◆ { the importance of secrecy.

ignicity:

The wind was strong today, demanding. Trees bent to it’s will, pleading; but humans were not so ready to bow. Below, people wandered through the streets, shielding their faces and from the biting chill and carrying along with their business. A hand shot out to grab the all-too-familiar scarf that had finally come loose and lifted away from him, retying the material back under a cloak before the wind could convince it to drift any farther away from its owner.

Gaze followed a choice few humans wandering below him. His eyes followed their movements easily, a certain fondness shining through, though it was hidden away mere moments after it appeared. With an exasperated sigh blown out through his nose, the male stood. It took a moment to balance at his full height─the perch on the rooftop was much more suited for crouching. The woman he had been watching had disappeared into a shop, however, and so he took a moment to survey the area one last time before spinning and taking off down the trail of rooftops that led away from the town square.

All ties with his nakama had been cut a long time ago. In order to do this, in order to be the person they needed him to be─whether they knew it or not─there could be no ties left to them. This could put them in danger, even if he was trying to do exactly the opposite, and if the male only had to sacrifice his bonds to keep them protected, then that was a small price to pay.

Sometimes, though, he liked to observe──sit on the rooftops and watch his former friends with a practiced neutral expression while his heart swelled with joy at the thought of what lie ahead for them. Even if none of them ever knew, he would always be there, in the shadows, a watchful eye over everything.

But for now, someone was tailing him, and the immediate goal of the pinkette was to get as far away from where his nakama had been as possible. Sliding down the tiles of a roof, a hand only just caught on the gutter as his feet left the security of anything beneath him, slowing the man’s fall and allowing the drop between where he was hanging and the ground to be a reachable distance. One feet had retouched with the earth, he took off again, dodging around the scarce amount of people that came into his path.

A good distance had been put between the square and where the pinkette had ended up, and so he slowed to a stop, hands raising to readjust the hood over his face and scarf that covered his mouth and nose. The hood would stay, but he would pull the scarf down, twisting on his heels to face the person that had managed to tail him across the expanse of rooftops and keep up on foot, as well. “You’ve been following me for long enough.” Natsu growled out, eyes narrowing in an attempt to place the person.

“What do you want?”

「♕」 Typically, it was cool, calm and quiet in Magolia but the wind played a different part on this particular day. I blew around wildly, mixing all the leaves together and knocking the leaves off the tree, stripping them bit by bit. It was just the right day to roam around on the rooftops, Sting Eucliffe mused to himself as he crouched himself on a rooftop, scanning the streets below, watching the people as they bustled back and forth, stumbling here and there trying to escape the playful, yet fierce wind. A chuckle came from his lips, “heh~ people can be so amusing to watch sometimes.”

His eyes looked up as he caught a familiar flash of pink and and a scarf trailing behind in the whipping wind. “…Natsu-san?” His eyes lit up some as he stood up and watched him from afar. Natsu Drageneel, an excellent assassin and quite skilled as well. Sting looked up to him and pushed himself to be stronger and trained hard every day so that he could be a well renowned assassin himself.

A  thought then crossed his mind as he adjusted his own cloak and pulled his hood up and quietly trailed after him. He quietly and slowly maneuvered behind him, being careful not to be tracked or detected. After all, it was an assassin’s job to not be detected and to silently strike their targets. However, about half way, the salmon-haired spoke, stopping him dead in his tracks in the shadows. A loud sigh came from the blond as he stepped forward, adorning a white, gold and blue cloak and wear. “Aye aye~ you spoiled my fun, ya know that?” he followed with a small laugh and held his hands up, catching the glare.

“Oi oi, easy and settle yourself, would you?” he smirked , flashing his sharp teeth and tipped back his hood, “I ain’t here to harm ya~ Natsu Drageneel-san~"  he said in a sing-song voice and placed a hand on his hip. "To answer you question, I was curious about you. Though, you spoiled that by detecting me. Good good work~” he clapped his hands and flashed a bright grin at the other. “Now then, will ya relax. I’m not here to out'cha or anythin’. That wouldn’t be fair at all nor right for the creed.” He paused momentarily and continued, “it wouldn’t be any fun to out someone like you before I got a chance to fight'cha. So what do ya say? A little sparrin’?”
