◆ Fading

aprire-il-cielo:

It had been a few days. A few days since the longing for someone to notice her was etched into her heart. No matter how hard she tried no one would notice her. The people who meant the most to her were ignoring her without any good reason. It was only three days ago that she didn’t come in for a whole day. She just wasn’t feeling well. They had no right to ignore her. The mood seemed somber no matter how many smiles were plastered on her friend’s faces. She didn’t know why, and no one would share the reason.

Maybe it was best for her to leave for a couple of days? No one would notice her disappearance anyways. She would just come back and apologize after she had cooled off. No harm done, right? It was what she felt like was best, and maybe in the mean time she could earn a little bit of money! She just didn’t want to sit around in her empty house.

Not even Natsu showed up out of the blue anymore. She would see him pass her house day in and day out, but he wouldn’t even glance up to her window. Her heart ached, and there was no controlling what she was feeling. The blonde felt the pain that loneliness held. What did I do?  That was the only question that she could ask herself. She didn’t recall saying anything rude to anyone. Was it just a sick joke? She wished that it would only be that.

Her body shivered as she felt the wind blow strongly against her. Her pale nose turning red from the cold. It was like the weather was matching her raging emotions. A blizzard that couldn’t contain the pain. Tears trickled down the blonde’s face as she fell to the ground. Earth-shattering sobs left her being. Her hands clutched tightly to her chest, just over her heart. She didn’t feel like she mattered to anyone anymore. Death would have been better than feeling how she did.

“It hurts…Everything hurts. I can’t stand this feeling. My heart is breaking in two. I think I just lost the only family I have left. I can’t stop crying…Why do I feel like this?” Even though she had spoken aloud she didn’t expect anyone to answer.

It had been several weeks, no months since Lucy Heartfilia had left this world. She left in an instant and left a gaping hole in the heart of the Sabertooth guild master. He was not the only one affected, all of Fairy Tail was and it seemed the light had drained from that place. A guild that was once bursting with energy and light had died down since the celestial mage departed from this world.  Natsu had changed, as did the rest of her team. The lights from their eyes disappeared.

For weeks, he denied it, refused to believe the news, but once he saw her name etched in the stone it was true and it sunk and engraved into his heart. He was the last to have seen her. He had taken her out to get some food and just…talk, get to know her. For awhile, he has taken her on a few trips as that, and over time he developed feelings for her but never had the chance to tell her. Or rather, he couldn’t given how she and Natsu acted around each other. Alas, he lost his chance to tell her, and despair and regret filled his grieving heart.

Some days he’d take strolls, getting away from the guild or any reports that reminded him of her. This was one of those day where he left without warning and strolled down the windy streets of Magnolia. Briefly, he passed by Natsu whose dark blank eyes did not look at him and he just kept going. That was not what made him stop and freeze in his tracks. Through the bustling crowd, his marigold eyes caught onto a familiar blond head and through the murmurs of the crowd, he heard a familiar voice. “N-no…it…it can’t be…"  he whispered and made his way through the crowd as if he were in a trance.

He stopped several feet from the cryin maiden, in shock and stared at her as the color slowly drained from his face. The blue scarf tied around his neck slipped off and blew into the wind, like a feather, and he stood there uncaring his neck was bare. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came to. He swallowed and spoke again as he stepped toward her.”…Lu-Lucy-san?“ he asked hoarsely, tears brimming at the corners of his eyes. "Please tell me this is some sort of sick joke. If you are a shifting mage, show yourself….cause this has to be a dream, ri-right?"  A single tear rolled down his cheek as he gave a shaky laugh and put a hand to his head, "it’s gotta be. I am seeing things….”
